Sam Dodson
Sam is the General Manager at JDH Remodeling, where she has spent 7 years helping homeowners get honest answers about their roofs, siding, windows, and gutters. She runs the parts of the business homeowners see and the parts they do not, and she is the person who walks families through JDH's PCC Method, The Threshold, The Right Fit, and C.A.R.E. Restore so they understand exactly what is happening on their home and why.
Both Sides of the House.
Sam runs JDH from inside the office and from inside customers' homes. On any given day she is reviewing incoming leads, checking that appointments are set correctly, and backing up the rest of the office team. She is also the person handling the financials, bookkeeping, payroll, invoices, health insurance, and the company 401k. That mix of homeowner-facing work and behind-the-scenes operations shapes how she talks about projects. She wants estimates, warranties, and scope to be clear, because she sees what happens when they are not.
Sam regularly gets called out to homes where another contractor cut corners. Those visits inform how JDH structures every conversation with a homeowner, from the first phone call to the final walkthrough. When she sits across the kitchen table from a family, she is not selling roofing. She is explaining what is happening on their home, in plain language, and helping them decide what to do about it.
Not Just Behind a Desk.
The GM of JDH does not run the company from a spreadsheet. Sam gets on real roofs, in a JDH shirt and a safety harness, on real homeowner properties. She has been trained on the same rope, harness, and inspection equipment the JDH crews carry every day, and she uses it.
When a homeowner calls with a problem another contractor could not solve, Sam is often the person who climbs up to look. That direct experience is the reason she can explain what is happening on a home in plain language later, from across the kitchen table. She does not describe a problem she has heard about. She describes one she has seen.
Four Methods, In Plain English.
These are the four homeowner-facing frameworks Sam uses on every project. Every homeowner she sits with gets some or all of them, and none of them require you to already understand roofing to follow along.
Problem, Cause, Consequence. Sam walks every homeowner through what is happening on their home, why it is happening, and what will happen if it is not addressed. No jargon, no guessing.
"Finding the problem, what caused it, and what the consequence is. For example, your roof is leaking. That's the problem. The cause is missing shingles. The consequence is water coming into your home."
JDH's 30% damage guideline. If more than 30% of the roof is compromised, Sam and the team recommend a full replacement instead of a repair. The goal is to stop homeowners from paying for the same problem twice.
"The threshold is if more than 30% of your roof is damaged we would recommend a replacement instead of repairs. We were trying to save homeowners money instead of paying for repair after repair after repair."
Three options at three price points, so cost never blocks a homeowner from getting what their home actually needs. Different products at different levels, all built to fit.
"We offer 3 options to the homeowner with their wants and needs. We offer different products in each price so we don't let the price stand in the way of the homeowner getting what they need and deserve."
Start with a repair, need a full replacement within five years? JDH credits every dollar you paid for the repair toward the replacement. No wasted money, ever.
"Care is if the homeowners get a repair through us and within 5 years they need a full replacement we credit whatever they have paid us towards the full replacement so they don't feel as if they've wasted any money."
A New Roof for a 94-Year-Old Homeowner.
The project Sam is proudest of is the one that had nothing to do with billing. A 94-year-old homeowner in the JDH service area had been targeted by a door-knocking scammer who scraped her roof down to the plywood and then vanished. She was left with no roof, no gutters, and no money to fix it.
Sam and the JDH team went to work with distributors and manufacturers on her behalf. The homeowner paid nothing. New roof. New gutters. Full install. When Sam tells the story, she says it is the reason she has stayed with the company for as long as she has.
"I've been here for 7 years because this company has always put people before profits." Sam Dodson, General Manager
Value, Not the Lowest Bid.
If you ask Sam what the single biggest mistake homeowners make when hiring a roofing or exterior contractor is, she does not hesitate. It is not choosing the wrong material, or picking the wrong color, or waiting too long to replace. It is picking the cheapest number on the page.
"The biggest mistake homeowners make is hiring based on price instead of value. The lowest bid often leaves out critical items like proper ventilation, flashing, underlayment, permits, or warranty coverage, which can end up costing thousands later." Sam Dodson, General Manager
Every JDH estimate Sam signs off on breaks the scope out line by line so you can see exactly what is in it and what is not. If a competitor's bid is $3,000 lower, the answer is usually visible in what their bid leaves out. Sam's job is to make sure a JDH homeowner never gets to that answer the expensive way.
Every JDH Project Has a Named Person Behind It.
