Jim Dodson
Owner/Operator · JDH Remodeling
A father, husband, and business owner — in that order. Jim is a third-generation tradesman who grew up on his father’s trucks, spent 11 years running corporate operations at ThyssenKrupp Elevator, and came home in 2016 to take over the family company his dad founded in 1986. He renamed it for the three people the whole thing runs on: J.J., Dallas, and Hayden. JDH.

01 / The Story
Three Generations of Dodsons. Three Jim Dodsons.
Forty years, two name changes, and one throughline: a working owner who has been on the truck since he was a kid. Here’s how the company got here.
1986
Dodson Brothers Construction
Jim Dodson Sr. founds the company in Clinton, Maryland — a master carpenter going to work for himself with his brothers. Jim grows up on those jobsites. By the time he’s old enough to be useful, he’s already on the truck.
2006
11 Years at ThyssenKrupp Elevator
Jim joins one of the world’s largest industrial elevator companies. He doesn’t start at a desk — construction helper → adjuster → maintenance technician → Operations Manager. He works every level of the trade inside a Fortune-scale organization before he ever runs one.
2016
He Comes Home
Three things happen at once: the next step in his corporate career means traveling the world, he and his wife want to start a family, and his dad is ready to retire. So he takes over the company, restructures it from the ground up, and moves operations to Calvert County.
Today
J.D. Hayden, LLC · dba JDH Remodeling
He renames it twice over. The legal entity: J.D. Hayden, LLC — J.D. for his father, Hayden for his daughter. The brand: JDH Remodeling — the initials of his three children, J.J., Dallas, and Hayden. The company name carries two generations of family at once.
The PCC Method: A Digital Analysis Report You Keep — Whether You Hire Us or Not.
Jim’s inspection has a name: PCC — Problem, Cause, Consequence. It’s not a sales walkaround. It’s a documented forensic analysis that becomes a Digital Analysis Report the homeowner keeps. The method was built with Rodney Webb and Lenny Scarola, sharpened by a lifetime alongside his father in the trade, and stress-tested against the HAAG Master forensic standard used by insurance adjusters and courts.
“Look — we know we’re starting from a hole. Roofers have a reputation. Salesmen have a reputation. Put them together and we’re double scum bags before we knock on your door. So we built the inspection to earn trust with evidence, not pressure.”
— Jim Dodson, Owner/Operator

Problem
Every finding starts with the defect itself — documented with HD drone imagery and labeled photos, exactly as it exists on your roof.
C
C
Cause
FLIR thermal scans and a full attic walk trace the finding back to its root — hidden moisture, failed flashing, ventilation, deck condition.
C
C
Consequence
What leaving it alone actually costs — with written findings and manufacturer guidance you can hand to an insurer or a second opinion.
What You Receive — And Keep
High-Definition Drone Imagery of every roof plane, valley, penetration, and edge — captured at resolutions the naked eye can’t match from the ground.
FLIR Thermal Scans that surface hidden moisture, heat loss, and insulation failure invisible to a standard visual inspection.
Full Attic Walk Documentation — ventilation, insulation, deck condition, and any signs of active leak intrusion from the inside out.
PCC Photo Evidence — for every finding, a labeled photo pairing: the Problem, the Cause, and the Consequence of leaving it alone.
Written Findings & Manufacturer Guidance — a document you can hand to your insurance carrier, a second opinion, or another contractor.
If the roof can be repaired, we say so. If it can’t, we show why — photos, thermal readings, attic conditions, manufacturer guidance. The homeowner makes the call with the exact same information Jim has. No pressure, no “today only” pricing. Jim personally reviews the findings on every project JDH takes on.
The Credibility Loop
Lenny Scarola trained Jim on the PCC Method. In 2026, Owens Corning invited Jim to the Platinum Conference to speak on Build Your Retail Model. Lenny moderated the panel.

License Lookup Note
When you verify our MHIC or Virginia Class A license, the state directory will show J.D. Hayden, LLC — not “JDH Remodeling.” That’s the same company. J.D. Hayden, LLC is the parent legal entity (named for Jim’s father, J.D., and his daughter, Hayden), doing business as JDH Remodeling. If a lookup returns J.D. Hayden, LLC, you’re in the right place.

05 / Family · Faith · Community
The Reason the Company Runs the Way It Does.
Jim lives in St. Leonard, Maryland with his wife and three children — Hayden, J.J., and Dallas. The kids are the source of the company name and the reason most decisions get made the way they do.
Jim and his family attend New Life Church in Prince Frederick. Every Saturday morning, he hosts a men’s alliance group at his home — a standing weekly commitment to the community he’s built JDH inside of. The same values that pull twenty men into his living room on a Saturday morning are what pull him onto a roof at 7 a.m. on a Tuesday.
Community Impact
That commitment to community is why JDH is a participating contractor in the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project — an initiative that provides free roofs to veterans and families in need across Maryland and Virginia. When a family qualifies, JDH covers the labor and OC covers the material. No cost to the homeowner. Same crew, same materials, same warranty as any JDH project.
The Owner’s Oath
“I can’t promise we’ll never make a mistake. But I can promise that if we do, you won’t have to fight us to fix it. We’ll own it, we’ll run toward it, and we’ll make it right. You have my name on it.”
— Jim Dodson · Owner/Operator, JDH Remodeling
