As a ProVia Platinum contractor, JDH installs at the top tier of ProVia's certification program, and we register every warranty on your behalf at the time of installation.

ENERGY STAR windowsWhat happens from your first call to warranty registration
Every JDH window project follows the same five-stage process. Click any stage to see what happens, who shows up, and what you should expect.
01 In-Home Consultation & Exact Measure +
A JDH Design Specialist comes to your home, measures every opening, and checks the condition of the frames, sills, and surrounding trim. You will see ProVia style, color, hardware, and glass options in person, and we will talk through which windows actually need replacing first if you are not doing the whole house at once.
This visit is free and there is no obligation. If your windows are not ready to be replaced yet, we will tell you that.
02 Fixed-Price Quote & ProVia Selection +
Within a day or two you receive a written, fixed-price quote scoped to your exact openings: ProVia windows, exterior aluminum capping, interior trim, haul-away of the old units, and warranty registration. No per-window gimmicks, no surprise change orders.
You finalize your window style, frame color, grille pattern, and glass package. Most homeowners decide within a few days; some take a week to compare. There is no pressure either way.
03 Custom Manufacture & Permitting +
ProVia builds your windows to the exact measurements from your home. Custom manufacture typically takes a few weeks. While the windows are in production, JDH files any county permit your project requires. We know the staff at the Calvert, Anne Arundel, Charles, Prince George's, and St. Mary's permit offices.
04 Install Day +
A JDH crew removes the old windows, sets and levels the new ProVia units, insulates the gaps, installs exterior aluminum capping, and finishes the interior trim. A typical home is a one to three day job depending on the window count. We protect your floors and landscaping, and we clean up every day.
We do not subcontract installation. Every crew member is on JDH payroll, in JDH-branded shirts.
05 Final Walkthrough & Warranty Registration +
Before we leave, we walk every window with you, check that each one opens, closes, locks, and tilts correctly, and answer any questions. JDH registers your ProVia lifetime limited warranty and activates your JDH 5-year workmanship warranty.
If anything is not right after we leave, our satisfaction guarantee puts someone back on site within 2 business days.
Four reasons we win on the quote, not the sales pitch
JDH does not knock doors, does not run high-pressure in-home pitches, and does not push a whole-house project when a few windows are the real problem. We win on a clean quote, a single trusted brand, and three generations of Maryland and Virginia exterior work. Here is what that means for your windows.

Window Questions Maryland & Virginia Homeowners Ask
How much does window replacement cost in Maryland and Virginia?+
Window replacement runs $800 to $1,400 per window installed for a ProVia custom vinyl replacement window. That price includes measurement, custom factory manufacture, professional installation, exterior aluminum capping, interior trim, haul-away of the old window, and warranty registration.
For a typical 10 to 15 window home, most whole-house projects land between $8,000 and $21,000. Where you fall in that range depends on window count, sizes, styles (a large bay assembly costs more than a standard double-hung), and glass package. See our Maryland window cost guide or Virginia window cost guide for itemized examples.
What should I expect to pay for a good replacement window?+
National figures put a quality replacement window between roughly $600 and $1,300 each, and that lines up with JDH's $800 to $1,400 per window installed for a ProVia custom vinyl unit. The spread comes down to size, style, and glass: a standard double-hung sits at the lower end, a large picture window or a bay assembly at the higher end.
The number that matters is what is included. A JDH quote is fixed-price and covers the window, capping, trim, old-window haul-away, and warranty registration, so there is no separate labor or disposal line added later.
What does Home Depot or Lowe's charge for windows compared to JDH?+
Big-box window pricing varies widely because the store is a middleman: it sells the window, then assigns a subcontracted installer whose crew you do not meet until install day. Quoted installed prices commonly land anywhere from a few hundred dollars to well over $1,500 per window depending on brand, size, and the local subcontractor.
JDH is not a middleman. We install one brand, ProVia, with our own crews on JDH payroll, at $800 to $1,400 per window installed. You meet your Design Specialist at the quote and the same company stands behind the 5-year workmanship warranty.
Does JDH repair windows, or only replace them?+
JDH installs replacement and new windows. We do not do glass repair or single-pane swaps. If a window is fogged, drafty, painted shut, or rotting, replacement with a new ProVia unit is the lasting fix, and it is what we do.
That said, we are not going to talk you into a whole-house project you do not need. If your windows have years of life left, the Design Specialist will tell you that at the free in-home consultation. Honest assessment first, quote second.
What is the best time of year to replace windows in Maryland?+
JDH installs windows year-round. Spring and fall are the most comfortable for the crew and the homeowner, since each opening is only exposed for a short window of time during the swap. Winter installs work fine: ProVia windows are custom-built and crews work one opening at a time, so the house is never left open.
Demand and lead times tend to be lighter in late fall and winter, so if scheduling flexibility matters to you, the off-season is worth considering. Do not wait on a drafty or failed window for the sake of a season.
How long does window replacement take?+
There are two timelines. First, custom manufacture: because every ProVia window is built to your exact opening, production typically takes a few weeks after you approve the order. Second, installation: once the windows arrive, a typical home is a one to three day install depending on the window count.
Each opening itself is quick. The crew works one window at a time, so your home is never left open to the weather.
What window brand does JDH install?+
JDH installs ProVia windows, exclusively. We are a ProVia Platinum contractor, the top tier of ProVia's certification program. We carry one brand on purpose: it lets our crews master a single product, and it means every window on your house carries the same warranty from the same manufacturer.
The line we install most across Maryland and Virginia is the ProVia Endure collection. See the ProVia windows page for the full lineup.
What does the ProVia window warranty cover?+
Every ProVia window JDH installs carries a lifetime limited warranty covering the vinyl frame, sash, hardware, and locking mechanisms for as long as you own your home. The insulating glass units are covered for lifetime against seal failure, which means no fogging between the panes. Factory-applied exterior paint finishes carry a lifetime warranty against cracking and peeling, and interior wood trim and finishes are covered for 10 years.
On top of the manufacturer warranty, JDH backs the installation with a 5-year workmanship warranty covering air infiltration, water leaks at the frame, and operation issues traced to how the window was installed. Both warranties transfer to one subsequent homeowner. JDH registers your ProVia warranty at the time of installation.
Are ProVia windows energy efficient?+
Yes. ProVia replacement windows are available in ENERGY STAR qualified packages with Low-E insulating glass and argon gas fill, which slows heat transfer in both summer and winter. Every ENERGY STAR window is rated by the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) so you can compare U-factor and solar heat gain on the label.
For Maryland and Virginia's mixed climate, the Design Specialist will recommend a glass package suited to your home's exposure. Replacing old single-pane or failed double-pane windows is one of the more reliable ways to cut drafts and energy bills.
Vinyl or wood windows: which is better for Maryland homes?+
For most Maryland and Virginia homes, vinyl is the practical answer. ProVia vinyl frames do not rot, warp, or peel, they never need painting, and they hold up to the region's humidity and temperature swings. Wood windows look beautiful but demand ongoing maintenance and are more vulnerable to moisture.
JDH installs ProVia vinyl windows, available with interior wood trim options when you want the wood look inside. See our vinyl vs. wood windows guide for the full comparison.
Are you licensed in both Maryland and Virginia?+
Yes. JDH carries Maryland MHIC #137491 and Virginia Class A contractor license #2705192986. Both are verifiable on the state licensing portals: the Maryland DLLR portal for MHIC and the Virginia DPOR portal for Class A. We have been licensed and family-owned since 1986.
Do you offer financing for windows?+
Yes. JDH partners with Foundation Finance, Service Finance, Hearth, and Synchrony for window financing, with same-day pre-qualification and no impact to your credit score during the soft-pull check. Promotional and deferred-interest options are available for qualified Maryland and Virginia homeowners.
Financing makes it practical to do a whole-house window project at once, or to replace the worst windows now and the rest in a planned phase. See window financing options for terms and lender details.
