JDH Warranty Coverage in Maryland & Virginia
Every JDH Install: 5-Year Workmanship Warranty
If it's an installation issue, JDH covers it. That's the entire workmanship warranty in one sentence. The specifics vary by trade - flashing on a roof, sealing on a window, fastener placement on a piece of siding - but if the cause traces back to how we installed the product, we fix it at no charge for 5 years from the install date.
Top-Tier Certifications on Every Major Product We Install
JDH holds the highest-tier installer certifications across the brands we use. That unlocks manufacturer-backed warranties that layer on top of our 5-year workmanship - and we file every manufacturer claim on your behalf.

Common Warranty Questions
Does the JDH workmanship warranty transfer if I sell my home? +
Yes. The 5-year JDH in-house workmanship warranty transfers to the next homeowner for the remainder of the original coverage period. No paperwork, no fee. We document the install in a file you can hand to a buyer's home inspector - and if you've misplaced it, Jessica Commodore at the JDH office can provide a replacement copy. Most manufacturer warranties also transfer once to a subsequent owner, with terms that vary by manufacturer.
What's the difference between the JDH warranty and the manufacturer warranty? +
One simple rule: if it's an installation issue, JDH covers it; if it's a material defect, the manufacturer covers it. The JDH 5-year workmanship covers how we installed the product (flashing, sealing, fastener placement, etc.). The manufacturer warranty covers how the product itself performs (defects, premature failure, finish issues). On certified system installs like OC Platinum, the manufacturer also extends additional coverage well past JDH's 5 years.
If I have an OC Platinum warranty too, do I call JDH or Owens Corning? +
For the first 5 years after install, always call JDH first regardless of which warranty technically applies. JDH owns the workmanship claim for those 5 years even when an extended manufacturer-backed warranty is in effect. Jessica opens the internal claim file, Steve evaluates on-site, and if the cause is a manufacturer material defect, JDH files the manufacturer claim on your behalf using contractor-portal access. After year 5, manufacturer coverage becomes the primary path.
Do I need to register my warranty? +
For the JDH 5-year workmanship - no, it's automatic from the install completion date. For manufacturer warranties - most require registration within 60 to 90 days of install. JDH handles the registration on your behalf and includes the confirmation in your install file.
Does missed routine maintenance void my warranty? +
No. JDH does not use missed maintenance as a denial mechanism. If a workmanship issue covered by this warranty exists, we honor it regardless of how clean the roof was kept, whether the gutters were cleared, or whether the homeowner caught the issue early. Routine maintenance is the homeowner's responsibility for product longevity - but its absence does not void JDH's coverage of installation workmanship. (Manufacturer material warranties may have their own maintenance requirements separate from JDH's.)
What if a leak damages my drywall - is that covered? +
Yes, for the first 12 months. If a covered workmanship leak causes interior damage in months 1-12 from install completion, JDH restores the interior (drywall, paint, baseboards) to pre-leak condition at no charge - no cap. From month 13 through month 60, JDH does not cover interior repairs themselves, but will remove drywall at no charge to expose the leak path so the workmanship can be repaired and your homeowner's insurance contractor can complete the interior restoration. JDH provides cause-of-loss documentation to support the insurance claim.
What about storm damage, hail, or wind? +
Acts of God (wind beyond manufacturer rating, hail, lightning, tree-strike, flooding) are not covered by JDH's workmanship warranty - that's insurance territory, with a possible manufacturer storm rider if elected at install. Exception: if the event reveals an underlying installation defect (shingles uplifted because they were under-nailed, etc.), the installation defect itself is still covered by JDH.
What if another contractor punches through my roof for solar or satellite - does that void anything? +
The third-party work itself is not covered by JDH - we didn't install it. But we offer a free post-third-party-work inspection to determine the impact on the surrounding JDH workmanship. Either the surrounding work is still intact (warranty continues unchanged), or we identify damage and provide a paid quote to repair it - which restores the warranty on that area. We encourage homeowners to call us BEFORE filing any insurance or manufacturer claim that depends on the surrounding workmanship being honored.
