The JDH Way · From First Call to Lifetime Support

How JDH Actually Does It

Direct Answer

JDH Remodeling runs a 10-step process from your first phone call to lifetime warranty support. Every project starts with a free PCC Method inspection (Problem, Cause, Consequence) by our local crew covering MD and VA working to the HAAG Master standard, builds a line-by-line Recommended Scope of Work, and ends with a 50-year Owens Corning Platinum-tier warranty registered in your name. Typical timeline from first call to completed install: 1 to 2 weeks.

The PCC Method

We diagnose before we quote

Most roofers walk a roof, count the squares, and write a number. We don't. The PCC Method is how every JDH inspection works. It asks three questions about every issue we find on your roof, and your customer-facing report (we call it your Digital Analysis) is built from the answers.

P

Problem

What we're actually seeing on the roof, in plain English, with photos. Not "your roof is bad." We say "there is granule loss across the south slope and three lifted shingles at the east ridge."

C

Cause

Why it's happening. Wind event last March. Algae from the tree line. A flashing detail the original installer missed. Naming the cause is how we make sure the repair actually fixes it.

C

Consequence

What happens if you do nothing. How long you have. Whether it's an insurance claim or a deferred maintenance call. We give you the honest timeline so you can decide on your terms.

The PCC Method was adapted from industry training and refined through three generations of installs at JDH. It exists for one reason: homeowners hire roofers expecting to be sold something. We'd rather be the ones who told you the truth, even when the truth is "you have two more good years on this roof."

From First Call to Lifetime Support

The 10 steps of a JDH project

What you'll actually experience, in order. Typical end-to-end timeline: 1 to 2 weeks from first call to completed install.

Step
01

First call and qualify

You call. We answer (real person, not a phone tree). We confirm the scope you're describing fits what JDH does, ask a few questions to right-size the inspection, and put a free inspection on the calendar within a few days.

If the issue is an emergency (active leak, storm damage, a tarp situation), we say so and accelerate.

Step
02

On-site arrival and introduction

Your Design Specialist walks the project goals with you for 5 to 10 minutes before going on the roof. What's prompted the call. What you're hoping to do. What your timeline looks like. We set expectations for the inspection so nothing about the next hour surprises you.

Step
03

PCC Method inspection

Full exterior, full attic, full component check. Photo-documented. Every issue we find gets run through the PCC Method on the roof: what we're seeing (Problem), why it's happening (Cause), and what happens if you do nothing (Consequence). The PCC framework is how a JDH inspection turns observations into a fix plan that actually holds up. Our HAAG Master credentialing sits behind it (Jim holds HCI Master #992109047) so the structural-damage findings carry weight with insurance adjusters when a claim is on the table.

Step
04

Digital Analysis presentation

Back at your kitchen table, your inspector walks you through the PCC findings: Problem, Cause, and Consequence for every issue we found. Plain English, photos on a tablet, no jargon, no fear-sell. If you have two good years left, we say so. If it's an insurance claim, we lay out exactly what an adjuster will look for.

Step
05

Recommended Scope of Work

Your inspector turns the PCC findings into a line-by-line Recommended Scope of Work: tear-off, synthetic underlayment, ice-and-water shield, drip edge, balanced ridge ventilation, and your shingle color choice from the OC Duration lineup. You see exactly what we recommend installing on your roof, by line item, before you see a price.

Step
06

Investment walkthrough and financing

Transparent price. No "we'll get you a number tomorrow." No haggling. If financing makes sense for the scope, we walk Service Finance Company options on the spot: rate, term, and what your monthly payment looks like at each tier. You decide what you want to do without pressure.

See financing options →

Step
07

Contract signature and install scheduling

If you're ready, we sign the contract on the tablet, take the deposit, and lock your install date. Materials get ordered against your contract that week. If you need a few days to think about it, no problem. Your quote is good for 30 days and your spot on the schedule waits.

Step
08

Install

Your install crew shows up on the scheduled day and installs to OC Platinum system spec: tear-off, synthetic underlayment, ice-and-water shield, drip edge, balanced ridge ventilation, and your shingle color from the OC Duration lineup. Job-site protection up before the first shingle comes off. Cleanup before the truck leaves.

See the install workflow step-by-step →

Step
09

Final walkthrough

When the install is complete, your Production Manager Steve Dean walks the finished roof with you. We confirm every line of the scope was installed to spec, address anything that needs attention, and get your sign-off before any final payment is due.

Step
10

Warranty registration and your contractor for life

Your Owens Corning Platinum 50-year non-prorated warranty gets registered in your name. JDH's 5-year transferable workmanship warranty stacks on top. Your project file stays open with our office. We know what we installed, when, and what's covered.

And then we hope to hear from you again. Your exterior is one system. Roof, siding, windows, doors, gutters. Every piece works together to protect your family. Our goal is to do such good work on every project that when the next one comes up, JDH is the only call you make.

Questions Homeowners Ask

About the JDH process

How long does the entire process take from first call to completed install?

Typical end-to-end timeline is 1 to 2 weeks. First call to scheduled inspection is usually within a few days. The inspection and Digital Analysis happen on the same visit. Contract is signed the same day or within a week. Install scheduling depends on material lead time and weather, but for in-stock OC Duration shingle colors we can usually have the install on the calendar inside 7 to 10 days from contract.

Emergency leaks and active storm damage move faster: same-day or next-day inspection, tarp work as needed.

What is the PCC Method and why does JDH use it?

PCC stands for Problem, Cause, Consequence. Every issue we document on your roof gets answered in those three dimensions: what we're actually seeing, why it's happening, and what happens if you do nothing about it. The customer-facing version of the PCC report is what we call your Digital Analysis.

We use PCC because homeowners expect roofers to walk a roof and write a number. PCC forces our inspectors to diagnose before they quote, which is the difference between a repair that lasts and a repair that has to be redone in eighteen months.

Who actually shows up to my house: JDH employees or subcontractors?

JDH employees. Your inspector is Jim, Brian, or one of the four named Design Specialists (Joey, Tom, Sam, or Matt). Your install crew is led by Production Manager Steve Dean. Your post-install warranty calls go to Production Coordinator Jessica Commodore. Repair work is led by Foreman Jesus Luna.

We do not subcontract sales or installation. If a name on this page shows up at your door, they work for JDH.

How much does a JDH inspection cost?

Free. There is no charge for the inspection, the Digital Analysis, or the estimate. There is no obligation to buy anything from us afterward. We take this approach because we'd rather build a relationship with a homeowner who's two years away from needing a roof than push someone into a project they don't need right now.

If I have a warranty claim five years from now, what's the process?

Call the office. You'll get Jessica Commodore, our Production Coordinator. She'll capture the issue on our internal claim form and assign Steve Dean, our Production Manager. Steve will visit on-site within 2 business days, evaluate the issue, and confirm coverage. If the issue is covered, Steve assigns Foreman Jesus Luna to lead the repair. JDH crew, JDH materials, no charge to you.

The 2-business-day on-site SLA is a JDH commitment, not an aspirational target.

What materials does JDH install and why those brands?

One vetted brand per trade. Roofing and insulation: Owens Corning. Siding: James Hardie and ProVia. Windows and doors: ProVia. Gutters: Leaf Relief. Skylights: VELUX.

We carry top-tier installer certifications with the brands we install (OC Platinum Preferred, Hardie Elite Preferred, ProVia Authorized). That gets you the longest warranty terms each manufacturer offers, and it limits how many SKUs our crews have to know. That's how installs stay consistent across hundreds of jobs a year.

Does JDH handle insurance claims for storm damage?

Yes. Jim's HAAG Master Certified credential is the standard insurance adjusters use, so his findings carry weight in the claim file. We document storm damage with the same forensic protocol an adjuster will use, meet your adjuster on-site if helpful, and write the scope in language that maps cleanly to the insurance carrier's expected line items.

You don't pay anything extra for this. It's part of the JDH inspection.

Step 1 starts with a phone call

Ready to start the process?

Every JDH project starts the same way: a phone call, a free PCC Method inspection, and a Digital Analysis that tells you the truth about your roof. No obligation. No pressure. Just the honest answer to "what's actually going on up there."

What can we help with?

Pick all that apply. You can change later.
