Leaf Relief by Ply Gem: 25-Year No-Clog & No-Overflow Guarantee
Aluminum gutter material has minimal manufacturer warranty - the install workmanship is the primary coverage. When JDH installs Leaf Relief gutter guards, you get an additional 25-year material and performance warranty from Ply Gem. We deliberately don't use the word "lifetime" - in gutter guards, that word usually means lifetime of the product, not of the home.

Why don't you offer a lifetime gutter guard warranty? +
Because in the gutter guard industry, "lifetime" almost always means lifetime of the product, not of the home - and most homeowners don't catch that nuance until they file a claim. The manufacturers who sell "lifetime no-clog" warranties on aluminum mesh guards typically include exclusions for high-debris conditions, certain tree types, ice damming, and product discontinuation that make the lifetime claim much less meaningful in practice. JDH installs Leaf Relief by Ply Gem with the manufacturer's actual published 25-year no-clog/no-overflow guarantee - we use the real published term so the disclosure is honest. JDH's 5-year workmanship warranty layers on top, transferable to the next homeowner.
What does JDH's gutter warranty cover? +
JDH's gutter warranty is two parallel warranties. JDH covers installation workmanship for 5 years from the install completion date, fully transferable - slope to outlet, hanger placement and fastening, seamless gutter run integrity, downspout routing, corner joining, leak-proof seam sealing, and gutter-guard installation (when applicable). When Leaf Relief by Ply Gem is installed, the 25-year no-clog/no-overflow performance guarantee and 25-year material warranty apply to the guard product. JDH files manufacturer claims on your behalf during the 5-year window.
Are clogged gutters covered by warranty? +
Depends on whether Leaf Relief is installed. Bare gutters (no guards): Clogs caused by accumulated leaves and debris are the homeowner's maintenance responsibility, not a JDH workmanship issue. Routine cleaning is normal homeowner upkeep. Leaf Relief installed: Clogs caused by leaves and debris under normal conditions are covered under Ply Gem's 25-year no-clog/no-overflow performance guarantee - JDH files the claim on your behalf. The workmanship of the guard install (fit, fastening, seam continuity) is separately covered under JDH's 5-year workmanship warranty.
How long is JDH's gutter workmanship warranty? +
5 years from the install completion date, fully transferable to a new homeowner if you sell. The clock starts the last day JDH's crew performed work on the project. Industry typical is 1 to 2 years non-transferable; JDH's 5-year transferable in-house warranty is among the strongest gutter workmanship terms a Maryland or Virginia contractor offers. If JDH performs a covered repair during the 5-year window, that repair is covered for the remainder of the original window (the clock does not restart). For seamless gutter runs, repair may require re-running a full section to maintain seamless integrity - included at no charge.
Does the gutter warranty transfer if I sell my house? +
Yes. JDH's 5-year workmanship warranty transfers in full to a subsequent homeowner for the remainder of the coverage period - no paperwork, no fee. The Leaf Relief / Ply Gem manufacturer warranty transfers per Ply Gem's published terms (typically requires proof of purchase and registration to be on file). What voids my gutter warranty? +
The most common voiders: third-party penetrations to the JDH-installed gutter or downspout system (HVAC contractor running line sets across, electrician routing wires) - though JDH offers a free post-third-party-work inspection to restore coverage; aggressive ladder placement that damages the gutter or hanger; unauthorized modifications by another contractor; pressure-washing at damaging pressure. Notably, missed routine gutter cleaning does NOT void JDH's workmanship warranty on bare gutters - though clogs and resulting overflow on bare gutters are not a workmanship issue either. Acts of God (extreme wind, hail, tree-strike, ice damming) are excluded but route to insurance.
Are interior repairs covered if gutters overflow into my house? +
Year 1 only: yes, with no cap, if the overflow traces to a covered workmanship cause (improper slope, failed seam, missing hanger). Months 1-12 from install completion: JDH restores interior drywall, paint, and trim to pre-overflow condition at no charge - no cap, no insurance routing. Months 13-60 (years 2-5): JDH does not cover interior repairs but will remove drywall at no charge to expose the affected area so the workmanship defect can be repaired and your insurance contractor can finish the restoration. Overflow from clogged bare gutters (homeowner maintenance scope) does not qualify for interior coverage.
